All at Sea on Dry Land
A trip with a nautical theme was the order of the day for Cardiff Circle on Saturday 15 February 2014. Over 30 Brothers and families paid a visit to the World of Boats in Cardiff Bay. The exhibition has over 40 rare boats from around the world plus video, touchscreen, hands on exhibits and our working boat restoration projects. In the Boat Lab there are on-going restorations of boats and a feast of displays and artefacts. Unfortunately this area had suffered damage during the severe storms during the previous night and access was restricted. The boats are part of the EISCA collection which boasts a further 400 boats at its main exhibition at Eyemouth in East Berwickshire. After an very interesting hour looking at the exhibits and the video presentations the party repaired to the Look Out Café for a delicious lunch of Welsh cawl followed by apple crumble and ice cream during which there was a quiz – the answers to which were all to be found in the exhibition. The joint winners with the best memories were Monica Maddox and Chris Archer who were presented with their own pirate hats.
