Cardiff Roll Out the Barrel
Cardiff Circle got to the bottom of barrel when 20 members and ladies paid a visit to the Welsh Whisky distillery, the only distillery in Wales, at Penderyn. The group were given a conducted tour during which the distillation process was explained including how it differs from the methods used for Scotch Whisky and Irish Whiskey. The distillery also produces gin and vodka and, after learning how the type of barrel in which the whiskies are stored gives them a different finish (bourbon, madeira and sherry barrels are used), the visit ended with the group in high spirits after sampling the various products of the Penderyn distillery.
