Catenians help Nazareth House to help themselves

At their October meeting, Cardiff Catenian Circle was delighted to welcome Sister Margaret of Nazareth House along with Ted Fearnley, chairman of the Fund Raising Committee, as their guests. Some months earlier, Nazareth House had appealed to the catholic community in Cardiff asking groups to donate a gazebo to be used as a stall at their summer fête. The existing gazebos had succumbed to the ravages of time and usage and urgently needed replacing for the fête to be able to continue.  The Circle has had a long association with Nazareth House and it was decided to try to raise some money to help. The result was that the Catenians were able to present a cheque in the sum of £1,066 to Sister Margaret and Ted Fearnley. In his response, Ted said the fund raising committee had been in existence longer than the records they have and that all the money they raise goes to improve facilities at Nazareth House. Projects have included installing new lifts and other vital works. The summer fête had had to be abandoned in two of the last four years with a severe impact on the overall fundraising. He thanked the Catenians for the tremendous gift that was above their wildest expectations and said that it would enable Nazareth House to purchase not one but all the gazebos needed, with money left over for other equipment, thus securing the future of their main fund raising event, the Summer Fête.
