John Edwards and Gerry Lewis

Cardiff takes the law in its own hands

At their meeting on 16 January 2012, Cardiff Circle was delighted to enrol two new members who both had connections with the law enforcement. Whilst both are now retired, Mr John Edwards was formerly a police officer in Brighton and Chichester and Mr Gerry Lewis spent his working life as a prison officer in London and Cardiff. The enrolment was conducted by Cardiff President Bro Chris Archer in the presence of Province 12 Director Bro John Hall and Provincial President Bro Geoff Clark. Bro John Edwards immediately showed his commitment to the Circle being elected to the office of Marshall for 2012/13. At the post-meeting dinner, Bro Chris welcomed both the new members who had both previously attended a number of meetings as visiting gentlemen and, with their wives, a number of Circle social events.  Bro Geoff Clark said that Cardiff Circle was in an enviable position with two new members and four visiting gentlemen at this meeting and three more visiting gentlemen expected next month. The new brothers spoke about their background and both said that they had been made to feel very welcome from their first visit and they were both looking forward to their futures as Catenians. Bro Gerry gave an interesting insight into some of the lighter moments of his life in the prison service.
