Bursary Fund Benefits from Visiting
At its August meeting, Cardiff Circe invited other Circles in Province 12 to challenge for the Gorman Cup. The Cup, more precisely called the Joe O’Gorman Cup, was presented to Province 12 by Cardiff Circle in memory of one of their members, the late Bro Joe. The purpose of the Cup is to encourage inter‐Circle visiting, and the cup is competed for between all the Circles of the Province. The Circle holding the cup puts it up for challenge at a particular meeting and the visiting Circles at that meeting are scored on a complicated almost unfathomable formula based on number of members present, distance travelled and number of members in the Circle. After an adjudication by the Cardiff Treasurer it was determined that Swindon Circle were worthy winners and as usual the cup was passed around at the post-meeting dinner when almost £130 was raised for the Bursary Fund.
