A Knockout Evening
Cardiff Circle was pleased to have as its guest at a dinner on 13 May 2013, Nicky Piper MBE, fundraising and events officer for George Thomas Hospice Care. Nicky is the former WBA inter-continental light heavyweight and Commonwealth light heavyweight champion. The charity had been nominated by Cardiff Immediate Past President, Mark Johnson, to benefit from his Presidential year charity fund. Nicky received, on behalf of the charity, a cheque for £5,050 from Bro Mark. Responding, Nicky Piper referred to the essential work done by the charity in providing comfort and care away from purely clinical surroundings which is so important to patients and relatives. Nicky thanked the Circle for this very substantial which would make an important contribution to furthering the work of the charity.
