2016 Charity Golf Day

Golfers Help the Homeless

The Cardiff Night Shelter benefitted to the tune of over £1,600 (including £750 match funding from Barclays Bank) after Cardiff Circle’s annual Charity Golf Day held at Llanishen Golf Club. The weather was extremely kind to the 50 plus golfers who took part in the competition and in the evening they were joined by wives and friends for an excellent post golf meal and prize giving. Llanishen GC Captain, Des Johnson, welcomed all the competitors and diners saying that it was a great pleasure to welcome the Circle back for this annual event and expressed the hope that it would continue into the future. Cardiff Circle President, Bro Peter Maunder, thanked Llanishen Golf Club for hosting the day and Bro Paul Good for organising the event. Bro Peter said that the money raised would provide shower facilities at one of the centres that provide shelter and nourishment for homeless people in Cardiff over the Christmas period. This year’s winning team contained two Cardiff brothers, David Deere and Peter O’Toole along with Hugh Hilary and Lee Harris. The Ladies winners were Janine Lowthe, Sue Taylor and Mary Lonergan, wife of Cardiff Brother Kieran.
