2013 Boules Evening

Cardiff Stands in the Circle

On 15 August 2013 Cardiff Circle made their second visit to the Monkstone Petanque Club for an evening of Boules. The Circle members were again made very welcome by the members of the Petanque Club including Bro Bernard Adshead and his wife Vickie who for the evening had a foot in both camps. Some 20 or so Brothers and ladies participated and a further 12 Monkstone members were on hand to provide advice on technique and more importantly the rules. This year the matches were arranged between combined teams of Catenians and regular boulers. In the event nobody was quite sure who had won but it mattered little as everyone repaired to the Club House to quench their thirst and sample refreshments provided by the Catenian ladies. Cardiff President, Bill O’Brien thanked Monkstone President, Mike Jones, and the other members for their hospitality and patience during the games and expressed a hope that this could become a firm annual fixture. In response, Mike Jones thanked the Catenians for the donation that they had made to club funds and said how much the club had enjoyed hosting the evening and looked forward to future such evenings.
